Welcome Back!

You have taken Part 1 and decided to continue to learn more: In this self study course, you will learn the essential theoretical components of psychodynamic Equine Assisted Traumatherapy: the elements that are necessary to know, how to structure and build (on) sessions, how to identify themes based on the horses' responses, and most of all, what to look for to ensure a "safe" environment for all: clients - horses - and team members. You will learn the typical signs and symptoms of PTS(d), to include a first look at complex PTS(d). All the while focusing on the horse, slowly but surely increasing your view to be able to see what the horse, as equal team member with respect for his/her differences, contributes to sessions. We will then look at the direct application of what you have learned: building on what has been presented by looking in more depth at various case examples, analyzing them step by step while addressing not only the "work process" but also factors that influence the entire team.

REMINDER:

The entire curriculum is designed to teach BOTH team members the essentials of equine assisted work.

1.    This means that as a psychotherapist and/or certified trauma therapist, you will not learn anything new about "trauma". The aim is for you to get to know "the horse in trauma therapy work" and to understand the elements that can improve your work through the horse and the equine behavioral specialist.

2.    As an equine behavioral specialist, you won't learn anything new about horses. Instead, you will be introduced to the basic elements of psychotherapeutic or trauma therapeutic work in order to be able to recognize how you can contribute to this therapeutic process through your horse knowledge.

If it's been a while since you've taken pEATT Module 1 Part 1, let me reiterate how you can get certified in pEATT:

·      As a psychotherapist, you need a current EMDR certification in addition to a certification as trauma therapist. I need proof from you that you have both. If you don't have it yet, please let me know. Your training in pEATT will not be completed in a few weeks, so it will be possible for you to meet the necessary requirements in due time.

·      As an equine behavioral specialist, I need proof from you that you are familiar with the work and handling of horses and know the core requirements regarding the welfare and care of horses, e.g. nutrition, physiology and ethology. In Germany, by law you are required to attend certain certificates in such knowledge. If your country does not offer such certification, please let me know and we will look at what courses you can attend to attain this necessary knowledge.
